Colin Boyle is a freelance photojournalist based in Chicago. He attends Northwestern University for Journalism and Spanish and is pursuing his third consecutive quarter as the Photo Editor of The Daily Northwestern. Born in Chicago, Colin was constantly influenced by his mother and grandfather, both of whom shared a passion for photography.
Going into high school at Lane Tech College Prep in Chicago, IL, Colin received his first DSLR and halfway through his freshman year, he started his own business: Colin B Photography. During that time, Colin began his first job as a freelance photojournalist with MileSplit, which he has been the Photo Editor of for its Illinois site since 2015. Throughout his time in high school, Colin experimented not only with his photography but also with his business model.
Colin has had his work licensed to platforms such as Chicago Magazine, Emily's List, and AL Media. His photographs have been featured in Chicago Magazine, DNA Info, The Daily Northwestern, Inside Publications and Northwestern Sports. Currently, Colin focuses his work on photojournalism, sports video, concert, portrait and event photography. In the past, he has covered events such as Obama's Farewell address and March Madness, among many others.
